With so much excitement surrounding the Masters Tournament last month, and the big win for 21-year old Jordan Spieth, many golf fans now have their eyes on the next big tournament—The 115th U.S. Open Golf Championship.
Spieth isn’t the only young golfer who has eyes on him. Golfer Rickie Fowler is now in the spotlight with his recent win at the Players Championship. With one of the best finishing moments in Player Champions history, Fowler managed four birdies and one eagle to close out and win overall. Fowler timed this win perfectly around the same time he was being considered as one of the most overrated golfers in the game—not anymore. While media attention seemed to focus more on the congratulatory kiss between him and his girlfriend, there is no doubt that his big win will cause some focus on upcoming competitions.
With his recent huge win, Fowler now puts the spotlight on himself alongside Masters champion Spieth, and rank number one, Rory Mcllroy. Buzz has already begun about this three-golfer rivalry, but Mcllroy denies the rumors and suggests any rivalries be created on the course, and not behind a keyboard. There is still no doubt that there will be a lot of attention on these three young golfers as the U.S. Open Golf Championship quickly approaches next month.
