While it may not seem like a big deal in the grand scheme of things, it does show a willingness by some of golf’s ruling bodies to adapt a bit to modern tastes.

Many average golfers wear appropriate shorts when hitting their local course, and the move by the European Tour could be a nod to that.

Some professionals, such as Jordan Spieth, have openly stated they’d love for a similar rule to be passed by the PGA TOUR. Can you imagine players wearing golf shorts while tweaking their game at the U.S. Open, Masters Tournament, or The Open Championship?
